Textiles dyed with natural dyes
At SONMO, we hand-dye our textiles with pigments extracted from the flora of the Son Moragues estate, located in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca. Each season offers us a unique color palette in which plants, water, and earth take center stage.
Variation in tones
We dye our pieces by hand in small batches. The colors created with these techniques possess a beauty that synthetic dyes can hardly match. They are rich and complex, honestly conveying their natural origin.
Likewise, the colors can change from one dye bath to another and from one season to another, which can result in irregularities and color variations within the same piece or between pieces. These characteristics are part of their beauty and give them their distinctive uniqueness.
The passage of time
It is important to keep in mind that our dyes are plant-based products and, as such, change over time.
All natural colors fade and soften over time. For example, yellow tones are especially sensitive to sun exposure, pinks can become more earthy, and green tones can lose their intensity.
To extend the life of the colors and preserve the colors of our pieces, it is recommended to follow these guidelines:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
- Wash with pH neutral detergents.
- Do not leave to soak for long periods of time.
- Stains caused by contact with substances with a high pH, such as lemon or vinegar, may alter the color. If this occurs, we recommend rinsing the fabric immediately with cold water.
- Wash at max. 40°C by hand or machine with a delicate cycle.

We must accept that due to their use, they wear out, break, and get stained.
We believe that stains are the mark we leave on the fabric as a result of our relationship with it, and for this reason we encourage you to accept and honor them.
