DOUBLE-SIDED CENTERPIECE
scription
Double-sided linen and cotton centerpiece, designed, dyed and sewn in the SONMO textile studio.
Technique
Front: Dip dye, a technique which involves partially dipping the piece in the dye bath, to create a two tone gradient with a soft line where the dye color meets the un-dyed fabric.
Back: Monochromatic dye, obtained by the total immersion of the fabric into the dye bath.
Acorn: Quercus ilex or holm oak, obtained from the acorn caps of the trees in the estate's forests.
Quince: Cydonia oblonga or quince, obtained from leaves of trees found in the farm.
Rhamnus: Rhamnus alaternus or mediterranean buckthorn, obtained from leaves of wild specimens found in the forests of the estate.
Iron has been added to the back side of the piece to obtain a darker tone.
Note: Natural dyes can be very sensitive when in contact with substances with a high pH, such as a drop of lemon or vinegar. This might cause a permanent stain. If this ever happens, we recommend you follow our motto and "embrace the stain!"
