RECTANGULAR PATCHWORK CENTERPIECE
Description
Linen and cotton centerpiece, designed, dyed and sewn in the SONMO textile studio.
Technique
Patchworked from several pieces of fabric, all of them dyed with a monochromatic dye, based on total immersion of the fabric in the dye bath.
Dye
Ash: Quercus Ilex, commonly known as holm oak and obtained from the acorn caps from the trees in the Son Moragues forest. To achieve the different hues that make up the product, each rectangle is dyed with different ratios of acorn caps and iron.
Earth: Eriobotrya japonica, commonly known as loquat and obtained from the leaves of the trees in the Son Moragues orchard. Cydonia oblonga, commonly known as quince and obtained from the leaves of the trees in the Son Moragues orchard. To achieve the different hues that make up the product, each rectangle is dyed with different ratios of the natural dye and iron.
Olive: Rhamnus alaternus or mediterranean buckthorn, foraged in the forests of the estate. Cydonia oblonga, commonly known as quince and obtained from the leaves of the trees in the Son Moragues orchard. Salvia rosmarinus, commonly known as rosemary, picked from the Son Moragues garden. To achieve the different hues that make up the product, each rectangle is dyed with different ratios of the natural dye and iron.
Note: Natural dyes can be very sensitive when in contact with substances with a high pH, such as a drop of lemon or vinegar. This might cause a permanent stain. If this ever happens, we recommend you follow our motto and "embrace the stain!"
