DOUBLE-CLOTH COTTON TOWEL. FOLD DYE
Description
Hand-woven cotton towel with high absorbent capacity. Delicate, soft and fluffy. Commonly known as Buldan, named after the Turkish town where it was originally used for in the hammams. It can be used as a bath towel, a throw or a blanket.
Technique
Folding and dyeing is a variant of shibori, a Japanese technique used since the 8th century, which consists of folding a piece of fabric to create specific dyeing patterns across the surface that is exposed to the dye.
Dye
Rhamnus: Rhamnus alaternus or mediterranean buckthorn, foraged in the forests of the estate.
Indigo: Indigofera tinctoria, also known as indigo.
Note: Natural dyes can be very sensitive when in contact with substances with a high pH, such as a drop of lemon or vinegar. This might cause a permanent stain. If this ever happens, we recommend you follow our motto and "embrace the stain!"
