On January 26th, as every year, we celebrated World Environmental Education Day, a date that commemorates the Belgrade International Environmental Education Seminar in 1975. This event marked a turning point in global awareness, establishing fundamental principles to promote respect and care for the environment worldwide.

The Importance of environmental education
Today, environmental education is more crucial than ever. We live in a time when environmental challenges, including the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, demand urgent, informed and conscious action. In this context, environmental education becomes an essential tool to equip people of all ages with the knowledge and skills needed to make more sustainable decisions and act as agents of change in their communities.
Our approach at SONMO
At SONMO, we understand the importance of environmental education not only as an ethical commitment but as an urgent necessity. Our brand and estate vision integrate sustainable practices and environmental knowledge into every aspect of what we do—from regenerative agricultural and forestry management to the creation of locally handcrafted products. Through workshops and guided visits, we provide our clients and visitors with the tools to better understand the significance of our surroundings and how they can contribute to their preservation.

Tramuntana XXI
For those who wish to dive deeper, Tramuntana XXI is an association we collaborate with to promote deeper understanding of our natural and cultural heritage through a wide range of activities and publications. With monthly outings to visit high-impact local projects, editorial initiatives such as Escriure la Serra and our Rural Estate Management Handbook, as well as environmental management support programs, we educate individuals and organizations who want to contribute to preserving and regenerating the nature around us, fostering a deeper connections between people and the landscape.

On this World Environmental Education Day, we at SONMO reaffirm our commitment to promoting environmental education as a pillar of our activities. We invite all our followers and collaborators to join us in this educational effort—crucial for ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come. Because every action counts, and education is the first step toward change.
