SONMO DIALOGUES

At SONMO, we host a series of intimate talks dedicated to exploring Mallorca’s living heritage. Through cultural dialogue and sensory encounters, we create conversations that bring together craftsmanship, culture, gastronomy and regenerative practices — from wool and ceramics to land, plants and the island’s flavours.

We gather once or twice a month at our Palma store in the Sant Jaume neighbourhood, inviting artisans, thinkers and cultural voices to engage with residents and visitors alike. These encounters create a space where the city meets the Serra de Tramuntana.

Rooted in our experience as an active estate in the Tramuntana, we share a regenerative vision that weaves together tradition, place and innovation. With SONMO Dialogues, our Palma store becomes a cultural platform — a place to listen, exchange and rediscover Mallorca through its materials, stories and people.

📩 For any questions related to the talks, you can write to us at botigapalma@sonmoragues.com .
✅ Attendance must be confirmed via the specific link for each talk. Limited places available.

Bringing the looms back to life: restoring craft, wool and making at SONMO

Bringing looms back into use at SONMO, this talk reflects on the restoration of craft traditions and the renewed relationship between wool, making, and local knowledge. In 2023 with the help of Daniel Harris of the London Cloth Company, Sonmo embarked on an epic undertaking. A vast operation to rescue, relocate and restore an entire 120 year old weaving mill from the 1900’s. These looms, which had sat dormant and rusting for over 45 years, today form the only wool weaving mill in all the Balearic islands, relaunching the lost woollen industry in Mallorca.
