Since the arrival of the first Moragues to the island back in 1230, the estate that we know today as Son Moragues and which also includes the neighbouring estates of Sa Torre and Es Roquissar, has gradually established itself, through the work and determination of generation after generation, as one of the most important olive groves in the Serra de Tramuntana.

Son Moragues is located on the outskirts of the village of Valldemossa, in the northern mountains bordering the neighbouring municipality of Deia. Its entire area is terraced on the terraces that sculpt the mountains of Valldemossa. It has approximately 50 km of dry stone terraces, 6 hectares of orchards and 100 hectares of olive groves, with more than 10,000 centuries-old olive trees cared for by generations of Moragues and subsequent owners over the last 700 years.

The estate was founded by the Moragues family back in the 14th century and was once inhabited by such illustrious figures as Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria.

The Archduke was one of the most influential figures in the modern history of Mallorca. He first set foot on the island in the summer of 1867 and fell in love with it immediately. By the end of 1890 he had acquired more than ten estates between the towns of Valldemossa and Deià, which he restored with great dedication, as well as opening up paths and viewing points so that everyone could contemplate the beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana landscape. Having settled on the island in 1872, he quickly became our best cultural ambassador. Not only did he preserve the beautiful landscape of the Tramuntana, but he also paid special attention to local agriculture and crafts.

Son Moragues, as a large olive farm, was the centre of agricultural activity in the
