MESTRAL RUG

SONMO carpets are made entirely in Son Moragues, using raw materials from the estate.

Each SONMO rug is a piece woven with history, care, and a strong connection to the earth. It is born on the Gregori Loom, a century-old machine built at the beginning of the 20th century and restored after five decades of inactivity.

The heart of this rug is the wool of the Mallorcan red sheep, a native breed facing extinction. Its fiber is exceptionally durable and boasts excellent thermal properties. As a local resource, its use reduces the carbon footprint and supports the conservation of a species deeply rooted in the island's rural landscape.

Each design combines traditional techniques such as herringbone and Panama weave, with weaves in natural tones, blue, orange, yellow, or gray, depending on the type of warp. The result: a robust, understated, and characterful piece that carries with it the pulse of the craft, the memory of a place, and the value of something made with purpose.
