Gordiola is a name synonymous with the rich tradition of glassmaking in Mallorca. Founded in 1719, this historic glass factory has preserved the artisanal techniques passed down through generations, blending craftsmanship with art. Each piece of Gordiola glass is handmade, using the same methods employed centuries ago, resulting in unique, high-quality creations.

Located in Algaida, the Gordiola glassworks is also a living museum, where visitors can witness the fascinating process of glassblowing firsthand. The combination of tradition, artistry, and innovation makes Gordiola a symbol of Mallorcan cultural heritage, offering a range of exquisite glass products, from decorative pieces to functional items. Whether for collectors or visitors, Gordiola’s craftsmanship continues to inspire and captivate, keeping alive a centuries-old craft in modern times.

Gordiola & SONMO: A Collaboration of Heritage and Craftsmanship

At SONMO, we hold a deep respect for the craftsmanship of Gordiola, Mallorca’s oldest glassmakers. In 2016, as we launched our Son Moragues extra virgin olive oil line after nearly a decade of work at the estate, we sought a collaboration worthy of this milestone. We found inspiration in a unique piece from Son Moragues' history—the Archduke Luis Salvador’s commissioned bottle from Gordiola in the 1880s, a beautiful amber creation that held his prized Malvasía wine.

Drawing on this historical connection, we worked closely with Gordiola to design a bespoke bottle for our olive oil, an intricately crafted vessel that perfectly complements our most precious early harvest oil. This limited edition, hand-blown bottle, filled with the finest organic olive oil from our estate, quickly became a signature product, symbolizing both our dedication to heritage and Mallorca’s renowned craftsmanship.

Since then, our collaboration with Gordiola has expanded to include two more bottles in turquoise and cobalt blue for our exclusive gin range. Each bottle, handcrafted with Gordiola’s timeless expertise, represents the perfect fusion of local artistry and the exceptional quality of our farm products. This partnership not only celebrates the rich legacy of Son Moragues but also showcases the best of Mallorca’s artisan traditions.
